For thirty of the past forty years the main business of the Order of Nine Angles has been three-fold. To continue the tradition of personal guidance of a few selected, suitable, individuals along the practical path that is the Seven-Fold Way; to publicly disseminate – without the Magian restriction of copyright – the ethos, mythos, praxis and esoteric philosophy of the ONA; and to strive for our sinister aims and goals in practical ways.
The advent, development, and then widespread use, of the Internet has greatly aided the second of these activities, and – though to a much lesser extent – also aided the other two aspects of our business since it has attracted to us certain individuals, enabled ease of communication (and secure communication when necessary), and enabled us to expand the ONA into a sinister world-wide kollective of collaborators, conspirators, Dreccs, and Niners, with many individuals contributing to our success and developement, as a business venture, in the modern world.
However, the Internet also had some negative aspects in respect of our sinister business. One negative aspect has been the perception and mis-understanding of our traditional, proven, way of esoteric training. For the Internet has given rise to the perception that our traditional way of personal esoteric training – the Seven Fold Way – is now un-necessary whereas, on the contrary, it is now and will continue to be an essential part of the Order of Nine Angles: the necessary and the only practical means to produce those Adepts who possess the insight, the esoteric knowledge, and the sinister personality to guide and efficiently manage our business and ensure it keeps moving toward achieving our long-term aims and goals.
Another negative aspect of the Internet relates to people identifying with us or claiming affiliation or knowledge of us (all in the realm of cyberland) and yet doing little or nothing sinister and practical in their own lives, and having little or no genuine understanding of our ethos, aims and goals.
These two particular negative aspects have arisen due to a lack of appreciation of our aural tradition, often due to the mis-apprehension that our many and voluminous texts, documents and manuscripts – most of which are now freely available via the medium of the Internet or in published books – contain the whole corpus of ONA esoteric knowledge.
What is lacking on the Internet are three things. First, the personal pathei-mathos of the individual or individuals who guide or offer advice to someone following the Seven-Fold Way – a pathei-mathos imparted, by its nature, aurally on a personal basis. Second, the accumulated pathei-mathos (and recollections and stories) of other ONA individuals and pre-ONA individuals, over the decades and centuries, and which form the essence of the living sinister tradition. Third, a certain amount of esoteric knowledge which by its very nature can and should only be transmitted aurally when the time for such transmission is right, which is most usually when the one being guided or given advice has reached that level of practice and esoteric insight where such knowledge can be understood and appreciated.
This aural esoteric knowledge contains, for instance, the answers to the ten questions which we present to anyone publicly and fraudulently claiming association with us and/or fraudulently claiming to have some influence in or control of our business. An esoteric knowledge available only to those toiling along that hard journey which is our practical Seven Fold Way.
The first and the second – relating to our pathei-mathos, our personal stories – are a valuable business resource, hitherto not written down, with only few exceptions, such as Bealuwes Gast and Myndsquilver, both of which texts have recently been made clandestinely available to a select few within our business in order that they may recount such pathei-mathos, such personal stories, aurally to those of their own business associates whom they know and trust. For access to such aural accounts is one of those things that mark, that distinguish, those who really are part of our now extended family.
Perhaps in the next decade some more of this vast aural archive will be written down and clandestinely circulated among our now world-wide family.
Meanwhile – given the plebeian nature of the Internet – one can expect more mis-understandings of the ONA and more mundanes fraudulently claiming association with us and/or fraudulently claiming to have some influence in or control of our business.
